Featured Etsian Artist~SmileMoon

Well, on Etsy, I'm a woodworker who's been turning wood into sawdust for nearly 20 years. I'm too social for my own good, much to the detriment of my day job, or even sometimes to the detriment of me actually getting woodworking done for my Etsy store.

In real life, I'm a husband and father to a ridiculous number of equally ridiculous children. We all live in a house that feels too small, surrounded by numerous pets and animals that pretty much ensure we'll never travel very far or for very long on any sort of summer vacation.

Mrs SmileMoon and I love doing what we do, though. When it's all going well, it's a lot of fun!

When and How did you discover your talent? Um, talent? I don't really know how best to tackle that one. Woodworking for me started out as a way to keep my stereo setup off the floor when I was in high school. Even though they had Industrial Arts classes back then, there wasn't anything devoted to woodworking, so I made it up as I went along, and the results sure looked like it! I got more serious about it years later, when I wanted to make a nice stereo cabinet for my apartment, but I knew I'd have to practice on smaller projects before tackling something of that magnitude. After this many years, I've gotten loads of "smaller projects" (artist easels, kitchen & bathroom cabinets, an infant's cradle for my third son, numerous puzzles & trinkets, toy swords , pretty boxes, curios, etc etc...) under my belt, but to date - no stereo cabinet. *sigh* Maybe someday...

What are you favorite pieces? That's always a tough one. The father in me says I'm not allowed to play favorites, and the artist in me says whatever my current project is will be my favorite, but in my heart, I think the cradle I mentioned above, the balancing bottle holders , and the prayer box I made last summer are among my all-time favorites.
