We spent a while today picking dandelions for all of our projects, it was quite a bit of fun. Lilly enjoys the dead seedy dandelions the most. She gets really upset when the wind blows all the seeds away, haha.

I tell her that she just needs to make her wishes quicker!

We collected about a quart of the yellow beauties! Not enough for all the crafts we want to do, but it'll do for now. We placed them in the freezer so they will still be good to use when we have a nice warm day out. That stash is going to dye something!

How To Imprint Leaves on Paper

~Natural Art~

I assumed everyone knew about this, but recently I met some people who were surprised to see my daughter and I creating art using this method. So I really wanted to show it off to everyone, it's quite simple..

I love using this technique as a way to teach my daughter about both art and nature, its a great learning tool. Try to use lots of different colors for each leaf and choose a variety of foliage.

This can be done with leaves, flowers, petals, stems, feathers, twigs... Endless possibilities!

Just get outside, grab a basket, and start collecting.
Have fun!

Gather your supplies: Paper, foliage, and unwrapped crayons

Place the chosen foliage under a sheet of paper. Right side of the leaf facing up.
Make sure to smooth it out so that it imprints properly.


Use an unwrapped crayon, rub the side of the crayon back and forth forcefully over the paper. Now you can see the imprint of the leaf.

Look at all the different leaves you can use, each is unique and beautiful.

I loved the Sweater hoodie so much that I had to make a summer version for my daughter.

I used no patterns at all, so this is my version. And instead of the mushroom, I made a lollipop!

The snail is still a pocket, Lilly had to stuff a card from a fellow Etsian in it, lol.

Lilly says she wants me to put a puppy or a kitty on her next top... hehe

My little sweetie is an artist!

The first picture is a piggy that she drew, its special, lol. The smaller circle to the right is its snout, yet it still has a small nose and mouth above the snout..special right? (no ears or tail)

A natural oddity..

The second picture is a squiggly spider. Look at those big googly eyes, the large round honker, and the small mouth. What's the circle at the bottom, you ask? That the belly button, or "beeper" as we call it!

Yep, I think she's ready to start selling her art on Etsy, watch out for her new store.

"Whew...finally - got both of 'em done. Turned out a bit more challenging than I thought. This is just a preview shot. They'll both be on ebay hopefully tomorrow or Thursday.The dolls used are 15 1/2 inch and 17 1/2 inch Bella and Edward dolls by Robert Tonner. Fulll facial repaint and shading as well as extensive hair style make over to replicate the features of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson from Twilight.The inset photos on the upper left hand corner show the mass produced version of the Edward Cullen and Bella Swan doll as they were originally released.Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area and an even greater challenge of recreating a real person's likeness.
